Site 22 – Friends Building entrance

An opportunity for a suspended work from modern roof timbers. Positioned on the south-east corner of the Cloister the Friends Building was constructed in 2009 and is so this is also home to modern education and conference in the Cathedral. Through the door on the left, an open side to the construction makes this a light and airy space, close to nature.

The location is visible to visitors walking through the Gallery part of the show and can be viewed from directly undeneath, as well as from a bench to the side. Maximum depth of artwork from fixing point shown is (TBC)m. Artwork must be wholly within the modern entrance, as the corner of the cloister itself is the site of the ancient and beautiful Bishop’s Door which cannot be blocked. All General Restrictions for Installations apply.

View from south cloister. The width of the doorway is 1.52m.

View from the bench inside the entrance

Previous installation in this space: Nicola Anthony “We are all connected” (2023)
